Froth Forest

Nadya hurried through the forest, she had never gone through it alone except for when she was a child, but she wasn't going to stop. She wanted to get to her old family home, hopefully safely. In the back of her mind, she was slightly scared that the two daemons would appear, or even the Crusnik, though she was more scared of the daemons.

Conrad watched from the shadows. The spirits of the forests' deamons whispered softly at the edge of his hearing my my my, i wonder what has transpired to where the little Vampire is without her bodyguard... he noticed some one else following far behind That isn't Abarhi...hmmm...no matter, so long as the heart is strong than ripping it out will be worth it

Gurthar watched Nadya from afar. Seeing her alone he was torn between two things, the thirst that a young, pure-blood female vampire brought as well as his odd attraction. He hadn't yet decided which one would win out.

Kealia came up beside Conrad, and smiled. Our little plaything is out an about.... I wonder what brought about this change of events.... she mused to Conrad.

Nadya continued to race through the forest, knowing that she was in a battle with the shifting skies that brought the sun taking the night away. She knew that she still had time before she had to hide but she wanted to get as close to her destination as she could get.

Yes it is interesting...however i'm wondering just who it is that is following her....his very essance is hard to track and yet it is horrifying to try to do so...almost as if he is hunting her...it would be quite nice to whach him rip her to peaces.... Conrad smirked, whaching him getting closer and closer.

Gurthar slid from tree to tree, getting ever closer to Nadya. He finally grew impatient and dropped in front of her. He wasn't sure what exactly he would do, he could smell her blood like some over ripe fruit hanging from a tree and yet i haven't bled her out....hmmm he wondered to himself before looking at her "Well now...it would seem that you are alone"

That would be delicious.... and then just watching the pain it would cause the traitor...

Nadya jumped back in surprise. "Ahh! I...I was heading...I was going somewhere...personal...." she said softly. "I... where did you come from...? I...I am glad you were able to get away from the daemons..."

"Get away from the Deamons? That was easy enough...they had other things to worry about..." he circled her "Has anyone ever told you just how beautifully your blood smells? I suppose you wouldn't hear it from that elf...he thinks all blood smells metalic"

Nadya started to breath deeply. "I....no... I haven't.....I..." she said, turning so that he wasn't behind her, so that she was always watching him. "I...what do you want...? I... I have to continue...."

His eyes began to flicker between normal and red "I haven't decided yet as to bleed you dry, take only what i need and leave you with a devils tale to tell....hmmm or simply leave you for those deamons...yes they are near" He seemed to be fighting a battle of wills.

Nadya's eyes widened. "No..." she whispered, and then turned on her heels and ran. She raced as fast as she could, to try to get away from him. She didn't want to be drained or left to the daemons. SHe had just wanted to go to her old family home.

He tripped her "And just where do you think you can run? Hmmm? The sun will be out soon and unlike you i don't need to hide so i can pursue you as long as i wish to"

Conrad watched it looks like he might just be hunting her he smiled cruelly.

Do it... smirked Kealia. Draine the bitch....

Nadya looked up at him. "I....I.... please..." she mutter. She was scared, and she knew he was right, she'd only be able to hide in the trees as a kitten, but he could just easily get her then too and she knew it. "I...please.... let me go...." she whispered, looking up at him, looking into his eyes.

He picked her up by shoulder as if she weighed nothing, sinking his teeth in, drawing back with a shudder shortly after "Yes...." his breath was slightly ragged "Now you can go..." he forgot he still had a hold on her shoulder as he clenched his fists up "Tell me..why is it that you stay with him? Is it because he is so oblivious?...." he wiped the blood from his mouth.

Conrad fumed "He let her go!...she's not dead.." he hissed between his teeth.

"Oblivious?" Nadya asked softly, placing a hand on her neck where he had bite her but also grimsing from him clenching his fist that still held her. "What do you mean? Abarhi... he loves me.... he... he has helped me find out that I'm not the last of my family....that I'm not alone any more... Please...what do you mean oblivious?"

He released her shoulder almost tenderly, completely different now "I had always seen and heard that it was apart of the whole bonding process...blood letting...and yes he is oblivious...or have you failed to see that his martial pride imprints on everything he does? He knows nothing of anything else, and for once i have to say that no, Turan is not to blame for that...Abarhi was born a warrior and he will die one...he doesn't know how to be anything else" he shook his head "But you wanted to be on your way so i will let you...just know that after i leave i am not the only one in these woods"

"I...you said it yourself...the sun will be up soon...." she said softly. She looked around. "None of the trees have any of my normal hiding spots....Please....and I wish to know more...."

Gurthar smiled "Haven't you ever wanted more in life? I could set you free, allow you to enjoy the dawn and the evening without worry or limitation, but you won't get that from him....though i say that and he is probably capable of making it happen but not in a way you would like it. Abarhi is simply nothing more than a warrior. He might try to be a lover but he won't" he looked in Conrad's direction breifly as a bird flew off.

Conrad smiled Sly bastard....he's set to accomplish everything...even his promise to her...and most importantly, repaying Abarhi for me

"I...I thought I was the last of my family until I met Abarhi.... and he discovered for me that I wasn't....he discovered who called for the hunt....before I met Abarhi.... I was....I was fine pretending that I'm a little child, just as I had before the hunt...." she said softly. "I...what do you mean....you could set me free...? That Abarhi is capable of making it happen....?" She hugged the cloak around her. "Abarhi...he sleeps deeply with me in his life....a true sleep....I....don't understand...."

"If i where to let you drink my blood then you would be free of the danger that sunlight brings....Abarhi would willingly slaughter someone like me to make it happen...a needless and senseless act of violence"

"What? Really? But....how? Why...? I was always taught to fear your race...." Nadya said softly. She looked towards the horizon. "Abarhi.... he let me drink from him....even...even with the possible risk....because he loves me...." Nadya looked back at Gurthar. "If you were to let me... why would you....? Why would you give me...something as important as the sun...?"

Gurthar laughed "So then you have your own walking meal...but yes you where taught to fear my race...however i've seen it happen when a Crusnik and Vampire wed, only to see the Vampire walk in the light of day that following morning...and no i wouldn't give it to you for free" a wicked grin came over him "For that matter i'm not entirely sure i'd give it to you at all, but i know Abarhi would go to just about any lengh to do that for you. Why? who knows really...probably for little more than selfish reasons"

"He's not a walking meal....don't call him that....he's not selfish...I..." Nadya had tears in her eyes. "I have to go...the sun's coming...." She ran off, shifting into her black kitten form as she did, hoping to fine a ground mouse hole or something.

Gurthar appeared next to Conrad "As you just now saw there are other ways of destroying somone" he smiled wickedly.

Kealia looked at Gurthar, then watched the kitten licking her lips.

Nadya, as a kitten, ran until she coulding anymore. Luckily she was able to find a tree hole just big enough for her to duck into for the day and not get burned to death. She curled up, and cried herself to sleep.

Gurthar looked at the two Deamons "I would leave her....as it is i'm sure she'll have plenty to tell her dearly beloved when she gets back..."

Conrad huffed "Your humane side is disturbing when it shows Gurthar...i'll do as i please"

Gurthar nodded "So be it" he dissapeared into the breaking dawn, to torn and confused about his own feelings to really say much else.

"He's weak..." Kealia said to Conrad. She looked at Conrad. I think the vampire is affecting him in somewhat the same way as she affects the traitor....it would seem...

Conrad nodded, his skin suddenly began to glow and heat began to radiate from his body "It's been along time since i've used this form...but i can't just yet" A deep voice resonated then subsided from Conrads' mouth. He had held the full revealed form of the Deamon inside him in check...for now.

Kealia looked at him. "Conrad.... what shall we do now...? Just keep watching her...or take her?"

"Wait till night fall...i don't want to risk burning her just yet...once we get deeper into the forest where light of day no long poses a problem then we can do something....on second thought...i'm tired of waiting" he began walking towards where he had seen the kitten run.

Kealia followed, smiling as she thought of the fun they would be having with the little vampire girl. She smiled more, loving watching Conrad.

Nadya curled up more in her sleep.

Conrad noticed a lone wolf near by "Oh this is just to much fun" his body dissapeared. Moments later the wolf seemed to convulse, but only briefly before its' eyes turned red and it grew to immense size "This is so much more fitting" He let out a long, baleful howl.

Kealia growled softly, with a smile. "I know I like it..."

He let out a chilling growl. Racing, following the scent of the young vampire. He ran smack into a tree "This is why i hate embodying a damned wolf....always got their noses to the ground...that part i could never get used to" he growled, picking up the scent again and, this time, following it slowly.

Kealia giggled a bit. "That's also why I love being a fox...."

He found the tree, plunging his nose in just to make sure "Got you" he growled as he began shredding at the tree. He then gave up fairly quick, deciding to instead sit outside and torment Nadya with the notion he was there just waiting for her.

Nadya woke with a start, and curled up away from the hole opening, and hissed, scared.

Conrad looked up, hearing her hiss "Well well well, so you're awake....that's good" he turned to Kaelia "Should i call the rest of the wolves over that his mangy thing belonged to and watch them...or should i dig her out?"

Nadya wimpered, curling up, watching the hole.

Kealia smiled. "I think call them, and then we can see what they do to her....They may even be starving wolves..."

The wolf smiled evily, raising its' head to the sky and to think evening is quite near he thought as he howled the dinner bell for any near by wolves. The call was answered, first one then a dozen far off and faint howls.

Talos road through the woods, not sure what to have made of his discussion with Turan. The howls sent a chill through his spine thats' odd....wolves here don't howl till shortly after midnight... The origin of the call was not to far away i wonder what caused this...

Nadya shrank back with a soft mew.

Kealia smiled. "They're coming.... this is going to be wonderful..."

The wolves came bounding in, looking at Conrad eagerly before clawing at the tree stump, vicious growls and snarls filling the air "Come on Nadya....transform into your normal form....it'll be much more entertaining to watch you get torn up then" Conrad sneered.

Nadya meowed softly, curling away more. No... Please....please just go away.... she begged crying.

As if by some morbid cue the wolves reared up and began thrashing about, blood pouring from multiple wounds. Each one was easily in itself fatal. A grey wolf stepped from the trees, eying Conrad "You aren't the only one who can use a wolf foul mutant" it growled.

Conrad back up, taken back by the orgy of blood, his mind realing with the death cries of the wolves that had only moments before been ready to rip Nadya limb from limb. Still dazed he lunged, his eyes turned a briliant red "Whoever you are, you're about to die y-" his voice was cut short as claws racked his chest. The grey wolf, now behind Conrad looked at him "What was that you where about to say?" he eyed Kaelia.

Kaelia stepped back, watching the grey wolf. "We may want to get out of here...." she said to Conrad. "Let now... live for another day...."

Conrad snarled, despair etching his voice at being denied the perfect opportunity, he made one last desperate lung for the hovel, only to be bowled to the side and have a chunk torn from his shoulder.

"Be gone, the both of you!" the grey wolf roared, his eyes blazing white "My power in this form rises with the moon, and you in your present state don't stand a chance even during the day"

Conrad staggered to his feet, tucking his tail between his legs and taking off into the growing gloom.

The grey wolf sat down outside Nadya's hiding place.

Kealia hurried off after Conrad, worried for him, and hating the mysterious grey wolf.

Nadya, who was curled up in a little black fur ball, lifted her tail so that she can peek out the hole in the tree. She mewed softly.

"It is dark enough for you to safely come out" the voice was deep and slightly distorted "And no i won't eat you....i ate before i ventured into these woods" he raised his head the the now barely visibly setting sun, dead wolves lying in front of him.

She moved to the hole, and then jumped to the ground. Th...thank you....mister wolf..... she mewed softly.

"You're welcome" the Grey wolf tried to smile sorry...i can't really smile as a wolf, i've seen it done before but i have no idea how to. If you want when you transform back into your female form i'll alow you to ride on my back to where you where going he nosed her gently.

Nadya shifted back. "Thank you... mister wolf..." she said softly, with a small smile. She reached out to stroke his fur. "Thank you.... I... have another day or so journey....I'm heading to Rose Manor..." Rose Manor had been abandoned a century ago, but even before that most stay away because of rumors or because the manor was in the middle of the forest.

"Then either you walk slow or i run fast...it doesn't take a day to get to Rose Manor...i know of it...i've chased and been chased to and from there a few times"

"I was normally running as a little child..." Nadya said softly. "I know Rose Manor very well though....I grew up there...."

The grey wolf got up, stretching, causing his back and legs to crack loudly "Then i will let you be on your way....i doubt the deamons will come near you so for the time being you should be quite safe" he bowed to her.

"Could....could you still take me there...mister grey wolf...?" she asked.

He nodded "of course"

Nadya smiled softly. "Thank you..." She carefully got up onto his back.

With a slight nod, the wolf took off, surprisingly fast even for something his size.

A Rose Manor came into view, Nadya whispered, "Home..." The manor looked so untouched to her, how long had it been since she had been back...? "Fifty years..." she whispered. "A hundred since their deaths...."

The grey wolf cleared the wall, alighting on the slightly overgrown drive leading to the broken down front door "So short a time an yet it must seem like an age" he said softly.

"It feels so long....even longer because I was alone....." she said looking at the door. "Thank you...." She moved over to some of the wildflowers that were now growing in the courtyard, pickings many. SHe then headed to what looked like old makeshaft grave markings, and then placed flowers at each of the graves.

The Grey wolf nodded "I know the feeling" a mournful hint touched his voice briefly. He stood in a sitting position, respectful of what she was doing.

Nadya came back over to the grey wolf. "Thank you again for helping me... not many would have...."

"You aren't alone in this world little Vampire. Your race isolates you but you are far from alone"

"I'm not alone anymore.... but if any survived the hunt... I am one of very...very few vampires born the way I am...able to age as if like other long living races.... while other vampires are made.... humans and others made into vampires....."

The old wolf nodded in understanding.

Nadya looked at the wolf. "What is your name?"

He looked at her "I have been known by many names so i guess you asked a question you did not know what the answer would be, however currently my name at least in this form is Xaphon"

Nadya nodded. "Xaphon...I like that name....thank you again...for everything..."

"It is one of my alias' for i rarely tell my real name...mostly because my father would see them dead, and you my dear have so much more in store for you than to meet your end at the hands of a petty lord"

Nadya nodded with a smile. "Thank you...I....I was having doubts as to my importances...."

He bowed his head, thinking for a moment "There are trying times ahead for you Nadya, but you will make it through. Trust your heart and what you know to be as it is and it will make things much easier" he looked at her "If you chose the chaotic path of change, then uncertainty will be your lot little one" his eyes seemed to shimmer briefly as he said this "And as to your importance...i know there is a certain elf that holds you very dear to him...true he does not know entirely how to show that he loves you....but the greatest thing in love is discovering it's deeper source and meaning"

Nadya blushed, nodding, as she thought of Abarhi. "I... I should get back to him... back to the Islands...." she said softly.

"You won't find him at the Islands dear one....i sent him with Turan to the Luminescent council...you'll find him there, though you won't recognize him. He'll be acting as Turan's body guard, though i don't know what he will look like"

"You sent him...?" she asked. "I...I heard of the Luminescent Council.... on the Island...I... I have to get there...."

"I can take you then if you wish...i'm headed there myself"

"I wouldn't be intruding would I?" she asked. "I know....vampires, born or not, aren't very well liked..."

"They are a part of the council none the less, and no you wouldn't be intruding and you might be surprised to find there are species less well liked than vampires"

"Really? Oh.... I haven't met any races that were more disliked...."

"Deamons to say the least...that and i've found also sirens, witches, undead and litch lords"

"I agree with the Deamons part..... what are litch lords....?"

The wolf seemed to shudder at the thought "Necromancers, Shades....all manner of unpleasantries such as those"

"Oh..." she said. She moved over to him, and stroked his head. She then pulled her hood up over her head. "Shall we go...?"

The wolf nodded "Just to for warn you though i don't mind, many wer-wolves do not at all take kindly to the idea of a rider. That being said, don't dismount till we find Abarhi or Turan"

"What if I'm in my kitten form?" she asked.

"In Wer, Society the smallest are almost always the first to get eaten...that being said it's probably not a good idea"

Nadya eeped. "Okay..." she said softly. She pulled her hood up, and carefully got on. "Alright.... I'll stay on until we see them...." she said.

He nodded, taking off in the direction of the Luminescent council

Kaelia followed Conrad until he stopped, though she hurried to his side. "Conrad...."

Conrad gripped his shoulder "I'll be fine..." it was clear it was his pride more than anything that had been demolished.

Kaelia quickly started to mend his shoulder. "Damn wolf..."

Conrad winced, shifting back into his elf form "Have you seen him before?...he was powerful...i couldn't do anything or so much as scratch him"

"I have seen him before......just who was he...."

"I don't know, but i'd sure like to pay him back for that...it wasn't the Crusnik..i know his aura and that wasn't him"

"True.... I think that it may have been more powerful than even him..."

Conrad sighed "It was more powerful than the Crusnik....of that i'm sure"

Kaelia growled. "Damn... thing... killed all of our fun...."

Conrad sighed "Well with any luck he'll get his at the Luminescent council...otherwise that could prove to be annoying"

"At the Luminescent Council? WHat's happening?" she asked.

"Every year the were-animals meet with some of the more ancient and powerful, but far less known elves, humans and other creatures to discuss boundaries and territorial dissputes"

"Damn elves...." she growled.

"Yes, if only one could incite a war with their kind...then the world would be ripe for destruction...especially since their race is filled with mages most of whom are far more powerful than any human....for humans are young and weak" his distain was clear in his voice.

Kaelia smirked. "Daemons are more powerful than humans... we are greater than the rest....but the damn elves...." she then growled.

"They are the first born of the gods' creations...what'd you expect? Though honestly yes they are a nuisance....their understanding of things is bothersome"

"They need to be destroyed...."

"And i know of a way"

Kaelia smiled. "Then let's go..."

Conrad nodded.

Kaelia looked at him, then shifted. Tell me the way.... climb on Conrad....

Conrad shifted back into the form of a wolf, this time a jet black monster with no wounds "This form will suit me better...thanks for the offer"

Kaelia nodded. "Lead the way.....Conrad...."

He took off in the direction of the Luminescent council

Kaelia followed Conrad not far behind.
